Crochet, Knitting and doomed sheep

Crochet, Knitting and doomed sheep

A few weeks ago myself and a few other PCVs did a crochet/knitting workshop in a nearby village called Anzal.

Most women here in Morocco know how to crochet, but they use very small hooks and thin thread like yarn. I showed a few of the ladies how to do “American” type crochet with bigger hooks and thicker yarn.

Most of the ladies were very interested in learning how to knit.

It was really amazing how quickly they all picked it up.  :) It was a fun day for us all, and I feel like we got to expose the women to a part of American culture that they could really understand.

On my way back to The Christmas Village I put my things under the bus and I notice some interesting stow aways!Sheep! These guys were getting shipped via bus for the big Muslim holiday of L3id Kabir al Adha. Tomorrow is the biggest holiday in Morocco where all the sheep will be getting slaughtered.

Mabrouk L3id!
