A common sighting here in Morocco, these are died out sheep skins tied to the top of this car. Im not really all that sure what they use them for at this point, they are all over the place but I rarely see them in use. Mystery!
This was taken at the Nomad Festival here in Southern Zagora Province in March. These arent actually camels though they are known as Dromadaires or something like that. And the answer to your question is No, seeing camels has not become normal yet! Shocking!

A picture of the King is in every business establishment in the country. But its always interesting when there is a unique picture, like these.

Moroccan Refridgerator in Tinghrir at the Gorges

My most amazing day ever when I received THREE care packages in ONE day!! Im still recovering! Thank you Aunt Therese, Uncle Tony, Nicky and Linda, and of course Mom and Dad.

This is another sighting that takes some getting used to… Livestock inside vehicles; on top of vehicles, strapped onto vehicles, etc.

This weekend my host sisters dressed me up and tooj pictures of me with the babies, Aya and Rehab. Cuteness bzzf!

Aunt Aya with her newest nephew Asharoff. Yes, Asharoff is wearing makeup, this is normal.

This is my host sister, Fatima, and her first born Asharoff. He is only 2 weeks old in this photo.

This is the gift I bought for our families newest addition, its awesome because it keeps the flies away without the family putting a blanket over the baby. Yay for not getting heat stroke!

This is my friend Olivia, shes also in Zagora with me. We tried our hand this weekend at making some paper mache light fixtures. Still not sure how they turned out…will keep you posted.

My groceries from Souk for the next few days or whatever. Veggies must be washed and treated with bleach to keep us from getting parasites or whatever. I was just discussing with Olivia how every meal there are SO MANY dishes to clean because of all the prep work, and how everything is made fom scratch here. Living in America again will be easy!!

Speaking of…. Inspirational Peace Corps Morocco Poster
Ill be back in America in like a month and a half!!!!!OMG.

i’ll be drinking chuck later, you should call me so i can say stupid tactless things to you some more…
Jo.
You are my light, you are my life.
Love, Rachida
HI Rachel, I love seeing your blogs. Fatima must be a common name over there. How will you feel leaving Morocco? Thanks for allowing me to see another part of the world up close. Take care, Fatima
Everyone is named Fatima here! Im really going to start encouraging name diversity to all the pregnant ladies I know! LoL I dont know how I will feel when my 2 years are up. Its scary to think about, especially because Morocco is starting to feel normal. haha
Hi Rachel, Nice update. I’ve been thinking about your “Morocco is starting to feel normal” statement. It’s amazing what we can adapt to! Glad you received your care package – it’s always sent with fingers-crossed. You look great in the photos and your host family is so cute. The makeup on the baby and it being totally normal…. yeah…:)
Therese
LoL Its true… Im adapted. Ive started telling people, Yes Im from America but now Im half and half (American and Moroccan). LoL
The makeup was so shocking when I first saw it, Im going to look up the vocab for the next time I see her and just warn her about the danger of makeup in an infants eyes.
tbarkllah rachel,
